2018 Biotech Summit “Biotech/Pharma, Life Science,
and Medical Devices Development in Greater Bay Area -
Opportunities and Roadmap to Success”

Abstract

To further capture and consolidate the core advantage and opportunities brought by the
development in Greater Bay Area, PolyU co-hosted with Invest Shenzhen and Yantian District
People’s Government, to organize the 2018 Biotech Summit at PolyU campus to gather the
expertise and networks of different stakeholders in biotechnology of the region to exchange
their insights and foster translation and application of innovation and technology development.
Mr. Zhang Zong Ming, Deputy Inspector, Department of Educational, Scientific and
Technological Affairs of Liaison Office of Central People’s Government in HKSAR and Ir Prof.
Alexander Wai, Vice President (Research Development) of PolyU kicked off the Summit by
giving their welcome remarks. PolyU also invited Dr. Zeng Lu, Director of Guangdong Academy
of Science and Technology Service to give a keynote speech on “Mapping out Development of
Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industry in Greater Bay Area”.
Three panel discussions were held and gathered different views by a list of industry leaders on
the hot industry topics. They include “Greater Bay Area Policies and Government Initiatives”,
“Pharma and Biotech Collaborative Opportunities” and “Medical Devices, Life Sciences and
Hospital Collaborations”.
