KNOWLEDGE AND THE CURRICULUM

                  Questions:
                      1. Please give a brief explanation about the opinion of Plato in which he called knowledge

                         as “Form” and “Ideas”?

                         Answer:
In the opinion of Plato in which he called knowledge as “Form” or “Idea” means that

the non-sensible objects stand outside the worlds of everyday things, and can be known
only by a kind of intuitive grasp which comes from a special kind of quasi-mathematical

training. They cannot be known about, since they are involved a special kind of
certainty. What ever is known must be known indubitably, and it seemed plain that we

could have no certainty about the ever changing world of everyday thing. A world of

phenomena or appearances, we could have only opinion or beliefs. These is what Plato
called knowledge as Form or Idea.

                      2. According to Descartes, Spinoza, and Leibnitz called knowledge is regarded as
analogous to grasping of mathematical truths, what does it mean?

                         Answer:
Knowledge is regarded as analogous to grasping of mathematical truths. This means

that Descartes, Spinoza, and Leibnitz are rationalists. They hold mathematics to be the

paradigm example of knowledge because in mathematical truth are universal and the
reasoning of it is demonstrative or deductive.

                      3. “ Knowledge is a paradigm”, what is your opinion about it?

                         Answer:
In my opinion knowledge is a paradigm that something we know based on what point

of view we ‘know’ it. And our point of views is not individual or subjective. However,
it must be rational or empirical.

                      4. Other than the definition given by the expert, what is your own definition of knowledge?
                         Answer:

Knowledge, in my opinion, is ideas about something in this world which are derived

                         rationally, empirically, or psychologically.
                      5. Please describe the relationship between ‘knowing how’ and ‘ believing’ by an example!

                         Answer:
Knowing how means we know how to do something and we have skill to do something

also. We can take knowing English as an example. If we know English, we will have
skills to do with this language, for examples: speaking in English, writing in English,
