Introduction
Mark Currie, Chair of GMLPN discusses key challenges and key successes/opportunities.
“We’ve achieved 7 years’ worth of change in 7 months.”
“The great thing about many people in this country is that we are great
innovators. We get set a challenge, we don’t hide from it, we get on and do
stuff differently.”
“We have had to be creative and engage in virtual learning.”
“We realised it wasn’t going to be a short-term, “let’s get back to work
anytime soon”, that’s when it really started to hit home in terms of wellbeing
and mental health.”
“One of the things I thought that had been really good in Greater Manchester
was the close working of the various different parts within the city”
“Other areas that the Networks worked together on, was the Northern Skills
Network survey of Employers and Learners on how they were responding to
the pandemic. I think that was well received by the ESFA.”
“I think there are probably a few practices… that we are going to continue in to
the future and not go back to where we were before.”
“We’ve got to say a really, really big well done to all of us, to all of the
people that work for us and to many of the employers that we work with.
And I’ve got to say the learners have responded fantastically as well.”
