Secretary’s Message

I take great pleasure in meeting our members through the annual report
and providing a brief account of the activities of the association during
2019/20.

The year 2018/19 had good progress with certain targets were reached on
fund raising by various chapters and the association continued to expand
its activities.

Annual General meeting on 04 May 2019 was well attended and the
amendments to the constitution was well received and a special resolution
was passed to admit eligible supporters as member of Tamil Engineers
Foundation. The amendments separated contribution towards membership subscription and the
contribution to benevolent projects and programs as the latter one attracts Deductable Goods
Recipients status (DGRS).

The Association supported and provided funds through Rural Fire Services in ACT, NSW, SA and
VIC to support people severely impacted by the bushfires during spring and summer 2019/20.

All of you are well aware of the social and economic impacts caused by COVID-19 without an end in
sight has significant impact in Associations fund raising programs. Additionally, significant financial
contribution was made by Tamil Engineers Foundation to support workers who lost their job due to
COVID -19 restrictions.

The Association and its activities are conducted under the purview of governing state, territory
and federal legislations which are overseen by two organizations NSW Fair Trading and Australian
Charities and Not for profit Commission (ACNC). Compliance with relevant provisions of the
requirements and directions given by these authorities.

At this Annual General Meeting 2019/20 significant amendments are proposed to current constitution
with the intention to have an Executive Committee and to give more autonomy and recognition
for carious state, territory and overseas chapters. The draft has been extensively reviewed and
debated within the committee and current chapter committees.

I thank all the committee members and members who supported various activities initiated by Tamil
Engineers Foundation.
