Vice President Message - VICTORIA Chapter

Since its inception six years ago, TEF Victoria has grown from strength to strength.
A virus spreading around the world and infecting more people each day, bushfires ravaging
across the Australian outback; we all have been affected with recent happenings around
us. The disasters, however, did not constrain TEF Victoria from raising the necessary
funds to help the vulnerable people.
In 2020 TEF Victoria has contributed $27,320 to implement numerous projects, including
but not limited to the following:
               • 12,830 - Financial assistance to students in Sri Lanka to continue their education.
               • $7,820 - Funding the renovation work at Manthigai Base Hospital, Point Pedro
               • $4,000 - Victorian bushfire relief

I would like to extend my heartfelt and sincere gratitude to all of you for your substantial contributions
and donations over the years. We trust that you will continue to support these humanitarian initiatives of
          the Victorian Chapter of TEF.

          Thayananthan Sujanthan (Sujan)

During the COVID19 pandemic, TEF has acted promptly and done excellent work to provide short term
emergency supplies to overcome the current COVID-19 epidemic for our Tamil Community in Sri Lanka.

In this year, TEF Sydney committee has put tremendous effort to amend the constitution to maintain a
robust governance structure to maintain the organisations integrity and accountability. We support the
initiative of the team and it provides more flexibility for the local State and international committees.

committee. We believe that it will improve the quality of work undertaken in Sri Lanka.
Due to the COVID19 pandemic situation, we have decided not to have our annual fundraising event
this year. I would like to acknowledge and thank our local community in South Australia providing for
the generous donations made by individual and companies and sponsorship for our last year annual
fundraising event and continued support and kindhearted contributions over the last two years.
In South Australia, we supported CFS volunteers with our local contribution, thank you for your donation to
the CFS at a critical time for the volunteers affected by the fires in Cudlee Creek and on Kangaroo Island.

We greatly appreciate the tremendous effort and initiative put by the Thev and his team in Sydney for
many years, you are making a commitment to share that most precious of resources – your time – to
make life better for those who are in need.
