It is forbidden to electrify the outer door, for it may be necessary to
break inside for some reason. However, it is permitted to electrify the
inner door [unless some circumstance might arise that would make
it necessary to breach that door as well] because a person who has
already broken through the outer door and is now about to break
through the inner door is presumed to be a ba ba’machteres, a stealthy
thief, and there is no liability for taking his life [because the Torah
presumes he is aware that the homeowner will not surrender his
property without resistance and must therefore be prepared to kill
the owner if necessary, see Sanhedrin 72a.] A woman is allowed to
protect herself and take any necessary precaution for her safety, inside
her house. This is different from the woman who wants to put medi-
cation into her husband’s body, for that is not her property.
ɳ Summary and Conclusion
The physician should not give the woman medication to lower her
husband’s hormone level without his knowledge. They should consult
a scholar who will train the husband in fear of Heaven and ethical
conduct.
