there are several simple treatments that can avoid violating
the prohibition of wastefully emitting semen. In a great
many cases taking a cold shower is helpful, as is engaging
in physical exertion such as repeatedly going up and down
several flights of stairs etc. While having intercourse or
masturbating can sometimes remove the erection this is not
necessarily the case with prolonged erection and is certainly
not so when the erection has already been sustained for
many hours. No scientific or medical proof actually exists
there is any need for or benefit to be gained from emitting
semen in these cases.
In cases where the simple measures I described above are
not helpful, the patient should go to the nearest hospital
where relaxants can be administered, blood can be drained
from the organ, the blood spaces in the organ can be rinsed
out using medication that opposes erection and the forma-
tion of blood clots in the organ. Surgical treatment is only
necessary in cases in cases that have been neglected and not
treated in a timely manner.

ɳ Response
In light of the physician’s response, the answer to our questions seems
to be as follows:
Prolonged erection endangers the male organ and a sufferer from
this condition is liable to lose his potency or to sustain even more
serious damage. Many times there no need to emit semen for naught.
While it is true that intercourse or masturbation can sometimes end
the erection, this is not necessarily so in cases of prolonged erection.
This is what I gleaned from Dr. Chen’s response.
In a situation where other treatments have not been helpful and it
necessary to emit semen this it permitted, not only if there is danger
