Goodwill Industries is the nation’s largest nonprofit provider of job
training services with a network of 164 independent, community-based
Goodwills and dozens of corporate and nonprofit partners, such as
AT&T, Bank of America, Caterpillar, Microsoft, Sprint, Walmart, Annie
E. Casey Foundation, Lumina Foundation for Education, and the Ford
Foundation. Financed through a combination of donations, retail sales,
and contracts and grants, Goodwill works with thousands of ex-of-
fenders each year through its Second Chance Program (2nd Chance
@ Work). A leader in the successful reintegration of ex-offenders into
mainstream society, Goodwill operates several programs designed to
help ex-offenders find and keep jobs, acquire safe and stable housing,
and deal with substance abuse and health (both physical and mental)

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is very active in working with prison, probation,
and parole officials through its prison ministries programs. In some ar-
eas, prisoners are paroled to the direct custody of The Salvation Army.
Re-entry-related services include Bible correspondence courses, prere-
lease job training programs, and employment opportunities. Most of
The Salvation Army’s efforts are handled through its Adult Rehabil-
itation Centers and Harbor Light Centers, which function as halfway
houses for ex-offenders who participate in work release programs. The
Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARCs) provide spiritual, social, and
