help me through this week. It didn’t matter what was in box, but that didn't
stop my excitement. I could wait to open it and either could Jay. He took a
few steps forward again, grabbed a knife out of his pocket and slit the box
open. Then he pushed the box back towards me.
As I opened it, I saw an envelope, which I quickly opened. When I read it,
more tears ran down my face. The card was the most perfect card for
me. What an angel she is. It was the exact thing I needed to bring me a little
hope and happiness. Once I wiped my face, it was on to the surprise
underneath! Pulling back the tissue paper, right on top, was the most
unbelievable thing. It was the cutest Batman cape. Atlana was good!
The Batman cape was the perfect touch and a symbolic treasure to a story I
had told her months before. The story I'd shared was that I was changing the
way I thought about my eye radiation surgery coming up and that I didn’t want
to be afraid of it. So instead, I made a fun story about what was going to
happen to me that day. I told her on that day, I would become a superhero. I
went on to tell her that I was especially chosen to receive a super power on
the day of surgery. I laughed and said that from that day forward, I would no
longer need to use matches to light my birthday candles! We laughed. I also
told her that there would be more powers unveiled once the treatment was
done and I’d learn of them as things moved forward. That’s why the card was
so perfect. It hit that very them. I couldn’t believe how thoughtful and loving
his all was. It was magical to me. I quickly pulled it out and wrapped it over
my shoulders. This was the perfect gift to get my mind set moving forward. I
was now a superhero and I had my trusty superhero cape.
