him. It was time for him to look. Jay carefully started to remove the
bandages. He knew I was scared, so he went slow. First, he took the black
lead patch off, which (like I said before) looked like a pirate’s patch. There
was a Velcro strap that wrapped around my head to keep it secure . Under
the lead patch was a plastic eye shield. Under that was a white gauze pad
that was fastened with tape in a crisscross fashion. Jay began to pull the tape
back, then lifted the gauze, so he could take the first look. My good eye was
focused on his face, watching him intently to see if there were any signs of
how bad it was. Was he going to give me a look like mom had given me all
those years ago, when the glass what hanging out my knee? Was my eye
going to bulging out or oozing blood? Jay looked. He's face didn't seem to
changed very much. He said it wasn’t that bad and explained that my eye
just looked like I'd been poked in the eye really good. I was
relieved. He made me feel comfortable enough to look. Jay handed me a
mirror to take a peak. It was defiantly red and irritated, but it wasn’t oozing
and my eye wasn’t falling out. All good things.
