Chapter 17 Christmas Magic

Christmas was getting closer. It felt magical here. I'd had everything planned
and ready to go, except for a few more things I need to pick up from the
store. Then it was back to the cabin to enjoy the day. I had to make one last
stop, to pick up my mail.

Christmas cards had been coming in from family, old friends and new ones. I
absolutely love getting Christmas cards and seeing all the old family friend’s
kids growing up. I also love the happy cheer the cards would bring and how
darling each one was. There’s something about getting a card in the mail I just
absolutely love. I think what makes it so special , is that someone picked it
out, took the time to write in it and then get it off in the mail, means so
much. Let’s face it, life is crazy busy, and it makes me feel really special that
they send a special Christmas note to me.

I quickly stopped to grab the mail, and while sifting through it, I notice a
special box. One that I wasn’t expecting… again! So, I whisked it up with the
other stuff that had come in and headed towards my car. My curiosity was
peaked, just like the first unexpected boxes had come. What was in the
box? Who had sent it? I couldn’t wait to find out.

As I was driving towards the cabin, I quickly pulled the box from the pile to see
who's name was on the return label. It was a girl friend from high school, that
I'd d recently been in contact with.

Jen was a gal I knew from high school, but we’d never really gotten to know
each other. She and I had communicated a little while back about a fun
Christmas chain letter we saw on Facebook. We both wanted to participate in
it, but for some reason, we both felt it might be a scam. I don't remember if it
were she or I who reached out initially, but we laughed about our concerns.

I had also sent out a Facebook note, to update friends about my recent
diagnosis of eye melanoma. Jen, like many other wonder friends reached out
to me to share their well wishes and loving support. Jen took it one step
further, which was completely unexpected. I couldn’t wait to get back to the
cabin. The package brought joy into my already wonderful day.

Once I got back to the cabin, I yelled to Jay to come down. I'd already called
and told him about the special package, on the way home. He came down
