Germany’s S homrim, in collaboration with the Austrian magazine Profil,
Arms Export uncovered a de-facto embargo on arms exports from Germany
Freeze to Israel: to Israel. The investigation revealed delays and bureaucratic hurdles in
A Shomrim arms shipments, raising concerns about Germany’s commitment to its
security agreements with Israel during a time of heightened regional
and Profil conflict.
Investigation
Impact: The investigation ignited widespread public debate in both
Uri Blau Israel and Germany. In Israel, outlets such as The Jerusalem Post,
Haaretz, Ynet and Channel 12 News amplified the findings. Following
the public outcry, the German government issued an official
statement clarifying that arms exports to Israel had not been halted
and that shipments would continue as planned.
