P. 7

first time that idea is found in the Bible is the book of Job.
Evidently Paul read it, “The un-trackable, or the unsearchable
riches of Christ.” The idea in Ephesians is this, there are
unlimited resources and unbelievable wealth in Christ.
Unsearchable doesn’t mean “don’t search here” or “forbidden”.
It’s not that. The idea is to search all you want because you’ll
never come to the end of it. The riches in Christ are absolutely
endless and inexhaustible. His riches are as unfathomable as the
ocean and as vast as the cosmos. That’s the great theme God
the Holy Spirit put into Ephesians.

Why does the Spirit of God want us to see the unfathomable
riches of Christ? What is He going to accomplish as we see how
rich Jesus is? He wants us to see the great benefits we have in
our union with Him who is indescribably rich. Christ is rich and
you are in Christ. Therefore, you are rich in Christ. I am rich in
Christ. I like to word it this way and say, “Every Christian is a
multi-billionaire in Jesus Christ; rich, rich, rich.” I remember one
time when I was in a Bible class, the teacher wrote the word
“Christian” on the board and then he took the letters from the
word “Christian” and mixed them up this way “Rich Saint”.
That’s good. That’s what a Christian is! And that’s the message
        of Ephesians.

Of course the riches we are speaking of are spiritual, kingdom of
God riches. Jesus asks us point blank in Matthew 6 concerning
material things, “Why do you worry about what you eat and
wear?”. He tells us “the Father knows we need such things”.
“The gentiles (unbelievers) seek these things”. “But seek ye first
the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all of these things
will be added.” Seek, knock, bang on God’s door for spiritual
things. Trust God for material things.

As one multi billionaire to another, the purpose of Ephesians is
that God wants us to enter in to what it means to live in the wealth
of Christ. He wants us to enter in to our riches in Christ Jesus.
My constant prayer as I’ve studied this for myself and for all of
you, “Lord, make real to my heart and to the hearts of all those
who hear this study that we are multi-billionaires in Christ Jesus.
