STAR PERFORMER
Rachel Ballistreri – Radiologic Technologist
Those who give selflessly often build a sense of authority that reaches well beyond position or title.
Through selfless service, they are able to experience a connection with others that in and of itself is rewarding.
These acts of selflessness come from their heart and fills their soul. Rachel is this type of person. Someone that
doesn’t ask more of anyone than what she asks of herself. Someone you can count on to do what is right.
Someone who will fight tooth and nail to create a better environment for those around her.
Whenever someone calls out or there is an open shift that must be covered, Rachel is one of the first
people to take one for the team and fill in; even if it means she will not get to sleep that day. When poor staffing
levels in CT began to reach a critical level, Rachel stepped up and started working shifts in CT as well. Rachel’s
talents reach out far beyond the medical imaging field, as she is also a cleverly creative crafter.
As our COVID response ramped up and the x-ray staff began saving their PPE in patient belonging bags,
Rachel challenged herself to correct the problem. First, she purchased canvas tote bags for everyone in
diagnostic radiology. Then, she personalized each tote using vinyl heat transfers of each tech’s name along with a
radiation symbol. Next, Rachel filled each bag with hand lotions, crochet head bands to hold the ear loops of the
surgical masks, and cloth masks that she made herself. To top it all off, she purchased command hooks and
spaced them neatly throughout the ED Radiology Tech Core so that the everyone would have a place to hang
their new PPE totes.
All of these selfless acts and more serve as evidence that Rachel is indeed a Star Performer.
