The Messiah: Beyond a Shadow of Doubt
Leviticus 23 – The Chronology of the Appointed Times
Where do we find the Appointed Times in the Bible? They are listed in chronological
order in the 23rd chapter of Leviticus. You will see, however, that this chapter does not provide
all of the details regarding how the events are to be observed. Because of this, it is necessary to
search the other books of Moses so we can see the bigger picture.
As we explore each Appointed Time, we will look to Leviticus 23 as our starting point
for the chronology (i.e. the chronological order). We will then look into the related passages
in the Pentateuch (the five books of Moses) to expand our understanding of each event. Thus,
Leviticus 23 will be our starting point, which will lead us to related passages in the Pentateuch.
The related passages for each Appointed Time are listed in the Quick Facts tables in Appendix E.
The entire chapter of Leviticus 23 has been printed in Appendix A. I strongly encourage
you to become familiar with it, since it is central to our study of the Appointed Times. The
introductory information for each Appointed Time from Leviticus 23 has been printed on the
next page with my emphases added:
