LURES USED BY THE PROS..... We have the fish... now you just need to know how to catch 'em. Here are
the top bass lures which were used in the last two major tournaments on Lake St. Clair: The FLW Open in 2012 and the
Bassmaster Pro Elite Tournament in 2013. Jason Christie (below) won the 2012 tournament and was 3rd in line for rookie
of the year on the Pro-Elite Bassmaster circuit. (Nice not needing to put a worm on a hook for the girls!)

As mentioned in the marshall article on page 50, when bass were
visually seen under the boat by eye, or on the fishfinder, the pro im-
mediately went to the drop shot lure.
A drop shot consists of a fairly heavy sinker 1/4 to 1/2 oz., placed on
a line about 18" below a rigged plastic. Having the weight under the
bait offers these advantages.... it allows the lure to drop straight down
where you see the fish below; and you can wiggle/shake the lure to
entice that lethargic bass.
The rig is meant to be fished where you "drop it" and not cast and
repeatedly retrieved... so you must have some patience.
The crank bait which

was a very popular
lure .... and was also

angler tournaments
