now opened two additional foster care programs in China. We believe so fully
that every child should be raised with a mom or dad of their own, and because of
your kindness, more children will now be able to grow up in home care versus an
institution.
In February, 13-month-old Joe joined our new foster
care program in Datong, China. Joe was born with a left
hand difference, which doesn’t seem to slow him down
a bit. He is quite adept at manipulating toys with his
right hand…plus a little assist from his left. He is settling
nicely into his foster family, making great physical
progress in a few short months. Joe is already crawling,
standing with support, and even taking a few steps
while holding onto a piece of furniture. Joe loves to hear
his foster sister sing, and will babble along, shake to the
music, and add a little percussion by banging on a toy.
10-month-old Kenzie is also benefitting from foster
care in Datong. Born with Down Syndrome, Kenzie is
developing at a slower pace than little Joe, but still
making wonderful progress. As you can see from the
photo, Kenzie is now strong enough to raise her head
high during “tummy time,” and she has begun to
show a great interest in toys. She will concentrate
hard on the best way to reach whatever has caught
her eye, then grab and shake it with real satisfaction.
She is interacting nicely with her foster family, smiling
and babbling as they have their daily chats. Foster
care has been a true blessing for this darling little girl.
These are just some of the beautiful children whose lives you are changing. We
are truly grateful for you continued support.
