The children, having had a wonderful break and New Year Celebrations, are all
now back in school and already we have had a very busy start to the year.
We also wish all the Parents we have not met so far this term, a Happy and
Prosperous New Year.
The Year 6 initial Cat 4 assessments were completed last Friday and I am happy
to report that I am very pleased with the results in what is a system of
assessment used worldwide to determine the future educational journey beyond
the Primary School.
However, this is not a time for our pupils to sit back, especially in Year 6 as there
is still a great deal to be maintained and achieved. The entrance exam to our
Secondary School will be taking place in the very near future and after this they
will be working to confirm their progression in the GL Assessments in English,
Maths and Science at the end of the year.
It has to be remembered that wherever our children go on to continue their
education, these results are always asked for, as is a detailed reference from us
regarding attitude, effort, value to the school in additional activities and so
forth. This, even at a late stage can have an impact on acceptance at their new
Secondary schools.
The annual Crazy Weekend for Y6 pupils at the Secondary School takes place the
weekend of the 31st and this gives the pupils an insight into life at the Secondary
School, although termed a crazy Weekend it is in fact a weekend filled with
activities both educational and non-academic, with fun and games being held by all
in a wonderful setting with great staff support.
It is always looked forward to every year by the pupils.
