Ellen Ramos

Ellen, is an Architect turned independent filmmaker. She studied
animation at the Mowelfund Film Institute and experimental
filmmaking under Christoph Janetzko. She was a UNESCO-
Aschberg scholar at the Cologne Academy of Media Arts in
Germany and was an animation lecturer at the Mowelfund Film
Institute from 1993-2005, and later became Head of the Education
Program. She has worked on various short film productions
as director, animator, production designer, sound recordist,
and editor. She has received the 1992 PBBY Illustrator’s Prize,
First Prize awards from the CCP Awards for Alternative Film &
Video, and Animahenasyon Film Festival. As a freelance graphic
designer, she has worked for various cultural institutions,
advocacy organizations, and created videos for plays staged by
the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA). Delving
into feature films with filmmaker Paolo Villaluna, she is a recipient
of the first Philippine Daily Inquirer Indie Tribute in 2010, NCCA’s
Ani ng Dangal Awards in 2011 and 2012. Presently, she is with
Blacksoup café + artspace.
