2.5.4 Window Bulkhead 2.5.5 Menuboard Downstand Bulkhead

Where a shopfront window head is higher than The downstand should be installed with the
the nominal suspended ceiling line dictated by vertical front face nominally set 1100mm back
beams or other obstructions, then the difference from the front (customer side) face of the
in height must be made up using the ceiling fin counter. This applies whatever the reflected
material as a bulkhead. Bulkheads must be ceiling plan may show, unless there is a physical
set back a minimum of 1200mm from the site reason for variance, or a specific instruction
shopfront line. on a particular project.

It must have at least 2000mm clearance to the
underside (preferably 2100mm) and this will
require an available suspended ceiling height
of at least 2500mm AFFL. If this is not available
then the Project Manager and Design Manager
MUST be informed at the earliest possible
moment because there may not be enough
space to install monitors. The area immediately
behind the screens will protrude down to give
support to the monitor brackets but should be
40-50mm smaller all round so that it is not visible
                                                  from the counter.

See section 5.3 Standard Drawings, drawing no. ‘MAN–

032 Ceiling Fin and Downstand Limits’ and ‘MAN-33 Menu

                                                  setting out information

The downstand can either be supplied by the
Joinery manufacturer in ‘flat pack’ form for site
assembly and installation, or it may be fabricated
on site to achieve exactly the same finished
result. The bulkhead and all associated fixings
must be specified to accept a dead load of at
least 80Kg for 3No. Menu screens. The section
behind the monitors (ONLY) should be made
deeper to provide support and protection.

                                                  NOTE: the three 32”monitors are each H = 500mm W =

no visible gap between them ( The mounting brackets are
                                                  adjustable to allow for this).
