Why are you downcast, oh, my soul?
Why so disturbed in me?

The Bible is the banner of our eternal city,
His love is represented in precious stars and stripes;
A refuge for the helpless, a place full of redemption,
Its people have been ransomed by priceless blood and love.
CHORUS
My place is in that city, that great eternal city,
By faith I was accepted, and now it is my land;
Christ rules over this country, the noblest of all Monarchs!
And when His flag is waving, it signals peace to all.

Sixty-six stars are shining upon this blessed banner,
They represent the writings in it you'll surely find;
The stripes are twelve in number,
They represent the twelve tribes,
The mast that hoists its glory is the immortal Lamb.

Of every race and people, of every tribe and language,
They all conform one nation, in that celestial place;
Someday we'll all be standing, beneath that waving banner,
We'll sing to God in glory, in peace and liberty.
