Thorn In The Heart

             Under the rules of Later, Le Vietnam was developing into
         the rich civilization in the culture literature,  art, philosophy of
         life, even it became the powerful nation.


             Vietnam drove out all of the attempts of the invasion from
         the North Empire and learned to unite and reinforce their power.
         Also as well as at the same time it was going  Southward on the
         territory parts of Champa and Laos.

             Vietnam separated to North and South parts in the first time
         at 1592 by two feudal families Trinh and Nguyen. The feudal
         Trinh  had  reunified  Vietnam  under  the  Trinh  House  rules,
         proclaimed themselves with the Later Le to be the Trinh Lord of
         the country and established in the North at Thang-Long capital
         (Hanoi).


             Nguyen-Kim succeeded in the South after had  overthrown
         the  Mac.  He  ruled  the  South  independently  from  the  war-torn
         North  and  tried  to  slip  off  the  Trinh’s  rules.  He  erected  the
         capital at Phu-Xuan (Hue) and was Nguyen Lord.


             Vietnam  had  divided  into  two  major  fragments  with  the
         Gianh river as partition line, ruled by the Northern and Southern
         Lord. They asserted themselves as Kings within the feudalistic
         conception of the time to rule Vietnam. They pushed down the
         popular uprisings,  plundering activities and constant warfare to
         dispute  for  their  powers.  They  opened  the  blood  brother  civil
         war to against each other from 1627 to 1672,  made the people
         painful  suffering  in  forty-five  years  until  the  Tay-Son  House
         reunified both parts of  Vietnam.

             The  ending  of  the  first  Vietnam  civil  war  opened  for
         Vietnamese the greatest time of the peaceful and strongest army
         to against North Chinese Empire.

             The  Tay-Son  House  of  two  brothers  Nguyen-Nhac  and
         Nguyen-Hue  were  the  leaders  of  local  rebellions  in  South
