PREREQUISITE: Grade of “C” or better in Chinese II
YEAR COURSE: 10 credits GRADES: 9, 10, 11, 12 UC/CSU-Subject E
This course continues the work begun in Chinese II by refining all four-language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) and assimilating Chinese culture. Students will go beyond the textbook and include Chinese short stories, newspapers, magazines and films. In addition students will make oral presentations in Chinese.

The course objective for AP Chinese Language and Culture is to refine and further develop students’ communicative competence in Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing. The course prepares students to be ready for the AP Chinese Exam held every May. The primary goal of the course is to introduce students to Chinese literature and history and advances their critical thinking skills.
COURSE: FRENCH I COURSE CODE: GFP1 PREREQUISITE: NONE
YEAR COURSE: 10 credits GRADES: 9, 10, 11, 12 UC/CSU-Subject E
This course is an introduction to the French language and culture. The student develops skills in pronunciation through contextual aural-oral drill with a selected active vocabulary and grammar in elementary composition and conversation. It is highly recommended that a student achieve a “B” grade or higher to advance to the next level due to the difficulty of the material

COURSE CODE: GFP2 GRADES: 9, 10, 11, 12 PREREQUISITE: A grade of “C: or better in French I, 9th grade students must have the recommendation of 8th grade teacher UC/CSU-Subject E
This course is designed to supplement and reinforce the first level. The student begins a more intensive study of the grammar, literature, culture and vocabulary in context. It is highly recommended that a student achieve a “B” grade or higher to advance to the next level due to the difficulty of the material
