4. Submission of request to take PTO does NOT guarantee that the time off is approved. Until notification through Proliant is received, the time off should be considered as not approved.
5. When an employee is out on PTO due to an employee illness for more than 3 days, the Company requires a doctor’s release to return to work.
6. The Company retains the discretion and authority to determine whether any absence or productivity deficit will be paid using PTO. The use of PTO may be denied, or the employee may be required to use PTO to cover the absence, at the sole discretion of the Company.
7. As a rule, an employee must use any PTO that s/he is entitled to use before time off without pay will be considered.
8. Non-exempt hourly employees who are unable to complete an expected 40 hour work week must utilize PTO to make up the missed time. The employee is allowed to make up no more than 2 hours during the work week within which the time was missed (if more than 2 hours was missed, the remaining time will be taken from PTO).
9. PTO is primarily for planned time off and for a reasonable amount of unplanned time off due to bona fide emergencies. Employees must maintain an acceptable attendance record. The Company has the right to request documentation for any absence and/or use of PTO.
10. PTO is not intended for sporadic use over consecutive weeks unless used for sick leave and with a doctor’s note. Employees who misuse our PTO policy are subject to disciplinary action. This may include suspending or reducing the employee’s current or future PTO
allowance, reprimand, discharge, or other appropriate action at the Company’s sole discretion.
Examples of misuse include but are not limited to:
• Excessive number of “emergency” absences
• A questionable “emergency” absence
• Calling in absent after use of PTO has been denied
• Too many absences on Mondays or Fridays
• Absences in conjunction with holidays or paydays
PTO - Rollover
Our PTO policy does not have a rollover provision. The time credited in your PTO bank in any given year should be used during that year.
PTO - Upon Conversion to Part-time, Resignation, and/or Separation of Employment
PTO has no cash value upon separation of employment. It is intended for use during an employee’s term of employment. Therefore, upon separation of employment or as soon as the intent to resign (or convert to part-time) is given for any reason, any credited but unused PTO will not be paid to the employee and any remaining PTO will be forfeited.
PAY PERIOD AND PAYDAY
Employees are paid every other Friday. A care week runs Monday through Sunday. The two-week pay period consists of two consecutive care weeks. (If a payday falls on a bank holiday, pay will be deposited on the prior business day.)
