BUILDING A STRATEGY PART 6
RECOVERY TRADING
Now one of the best parts of football index trading is that usually
patience pays off, Meaning that players you buy for one strategy
which has resulted in a loss might be worth holding if they fit another
strategy in the very near future.
Reasons to hold at a loss for a recovery trade?
There are many reasons to enter into a recovery trade, here are four examples
listed below
Possible future Transfer speculation. If you have a transfer window around the
corner and there have been rumours about your player.
You have an In form player. If your player is in good form a potential price rise
could come in the next game.
Weak immediate fixture list. Regardless of form if your player is playing against a
struggling team in his next game he could rise pre match and in play.
Big Game (cup final or derby) which may get a lot of media attention. A big game
will get plenty of attention and if your player performs his price could sky rocket
and pay both performance and media dividends.
I turned a loss into a win recently trading Patrick Aubamayang.
I purchased Fifty Aubameyang's for £2.24 using the in play strategy in building a
strategy part 4. Aubameyang scored an early goal but lost his game winning goal
position soon after, usually I would exit for what would be a small loss at his
current price which was £2.26, however the days leading up to the game some
rumours where coming out of Dortmund that the club wanted to get rid of him in
January. I realised with a bit of patience I could flip Aubameyang so I kept him.
The next fixture Dortmund were 4.0 up against Schalke and flying! Aubameyang
then got sent off and Schalke got back into the game ending with a 4.4 draw. The
press slammed the player and the next day Dortmund gave the player a
suspension and announced he has no future at the club and will be sold in the
January transfer window.
