Tank Conference Business Meeting
The Tank Conference Executive Committee met Thursday morning, and was gaveled-in by Chairman Tom
Anderson of LBT, Inc.
Associate member Girard Equipment, Inc. brought in Glen Harm (GHarm@girardequip.com) to give a presentation
to the Committee on the history of venting. The committee expressed its thanks to Girard Equipment, Inc.
The Tank Engineering Committee’s chairman, Gary Christen of E.D. Etnyre, delivered an update on the engineers’
activities. The engineers have begun a program of associate hosted meetings following the successful practice
enacted by the dry-side engineering committee. The most recent meeting was hosted by H-P Products and was felt
to be a resounding success. The next hosted meeting will be the 2018 winter meeting and will be hosted by Girard
Equipment, Inc. in Vero Beach, FL. The engineers are monitoring an initiative by DOT to establish a TankFax, a
report that tracks significant actions in the life of a cargo tank. This is still only in the discussion phase, so no hard
proposals have been made yet. Also of note is DOTs recent push to audit manufacturers.
The following new publication and three revised publications were presented to the Executive Committee for
approval, voted on, and all passed on to the Board for final review.
RP 107 – TTMA Flange Dimensional Information
TB 75 – Hot Products Tank Vehicles

The next meeting of the Tank Conference’s Engineering Committee is scheduled for Wednesday August 2 , 2017 in
nd
Alexandria, VA and will feature a Joint Tank Industry/Government session. The regular Industry/Government
meeting will be that morning, as well. Additionally, a TREAD Act training course and the Products Liability meeting
is scheduled for the day before and the day after will have the regular Engineering Committee meeting. Members
were encouraged to take advantage of this chance to expand the number of TTMA events covered by the Tank
Engineers by attending as many of these meetings as they can.
John Cannon discussed recent developments with the Cargo Tank Risk Management Committee. CTRMC’s next
General Meeting will be held in conjunction with NTTC’s Tank Truck Week with another following in March 2018
in Canton, OH.
The idea of the Tank Engineering Committee taking a Monday field trip to a loading rack was discussed. DOW
Chemical has given preliminary approval of the idea and possibly a petrol rack could be included. TTMA would
provide transportation and possibly meals. The committee approved the plan.
