aware they are unable to attend work. Unless impossible, a phone call should be made by the
           employee directly to the manager. An indication should be provided of the reason for the absence
           and the likely duration of the absence. It is imperative that the employee continue to keep the
           manager informed.

           A medical certificate or statutory declaration is required for the following:

               •  Absences of two or more consecutive days;


               •  Absences of one or more days on either side of a public holiday;

               •  Absences of one or more days when all accumulated paid personal leave entitlement is
                  exhausted

               •  When a pattern of leave has been observed i.e. regular single days of personal leave
                  (usually on Mondays or Fridays).

           Disciplinary Action

           Disciplinary  action  may  be  taken,  under  this  policy,  where  employees  show  a  pattern  of
           absences; lateness in attending work, failure to inform the manager of absences or tardiness
           returning from breaks.
           In extreme cases of absenteeism, an Abandonment of Employment Policy may apply.
           Personal Difficulties

           We understand that absenteeism may sometimes indicate an employee is experiencing personal
           difficulties. We encourage all employees to discuss any issues with a Manager so assistance can
           be provided.
