Workplace Safety



        Mask-Fit Testing – N95
        New staff who will have direct patient contact are required to be mask fit-tested prior to commencing their

        first shift at SJHC in accordance with the following legislation and statutes:

        Please note the following N95 respirator make and models that are available at SJHC:

        If, through mask-fit testing, you have been advised to use a respirator that we do not have in stock, you must
        refrain from seeing patients on airborne precautions and contact your manager.

        Workplace Violence

        St. Joseph’s Health Centre will not tolerate any type of workplace violence. St. Joseph’s Health Centre is
        committed to providing a safe, healthy and supportive working environment and to the prevention of
        workplace violence. We will make every reasonable effort to identify potential risks and minimize them
        through our workplace violence prevention program. Details regarding the key roles and responses for victims,
        witnesses, Directors, Managers or designates are outlined in the Violence in the Workplace Policy (SJ-09-02-

        For all accidents/injuries and exposures please first inform your Preceptor and/or Clinical Instructor.  They will
        assist you in seeking medical attention and guide you through the process of completing a SAFE report.  You
        must also notify the appropriate program administrator at your College or University.

        WSIB Reporting
        The WSIB reporting process is followed only for any injury/incident that results in:


              Health care provided by a medical practitioner for which there is a fee for services (e.g.; physician;
               dentist; chiropractor; hospital or health facility visit); and/or
              Loss of time from work beyond the date of the incident; and/or
