South China tiger known as Amoy tiger or Xiamen tiger
The south China tiger is known for their narrow skull, long muzzle nose, rhombus-like stripes and
vivid orange colour. They are on the top 10 list of most endangered animals in the world. There are
just over 47 South China tigers left in captivity with no sightings in the wild.
They prey on samber deer, chital, barasingha, wild boar, gaur, nilgai, buffalo but also prey on dogs,
leopards, pythons, sloth bears and crocodiles.
Sumatran tiger
The Sumatran tiger is critically endangered and can only be found on the island of Sumatra,
Indonesia. There are 400 to 500 Sumatran tigers still left today. They are the smallest of all the tiger
species. They can be identified with their narrow stripes, longer mane and beard. Their coats are
also the darkest of all tiger species.
They feed on sambar deer, muntjac, wild boar, Malayan tapir and orang-utan.
