CONSuMER RIGHTS
The Staab Family and Associates shall:
v Provide a general price list with payment options and event orientation
guide as well as price lists for caskets, outer burial containers, and other
goods and services before any selection is discussed.
v Provide guidance to avoid a financial burden by securing payment and
explain the pre-payment options consistent with the Illinois Funeral or
Burial Funds Act and the Illinois Consumer Guide to Pre-Need Funeral
and Burial Purchase.
v Provide the highest level of professional ethics, standards, and
confidentiality consistent with the practice of funeral directing, subject to
government regulation and control affecting the public health, safety,
and welfare for those bereaved.
v Provide, prepare, and file necessary documents in a timely manner, as
well as a written statement of funeral goods and services with
disclosures at the conclusion of arrangements.
v Provide custodial care of the deceased with utmost respect for the
sanctity of human life while acting as the client family agent, even if
death occurs away from Springfield, IL USA.
v Provide guidance and address options, choices, and death benefits that
a survivor may be eligible to receive; veterans, employment, social
security, public aid, retirement, insurance, and fraternal organizations.
v “Stay to Closure” is a service whereby STAAB , as agent for the client

family, escorts the deceased as required, and witnesses the final act of
burial, entombment or release to next of kin or their agent. Following
the act of “Stay to Closure” STAAB is released from custodial care.

Although now required, STAAB has provided this service since 1937.

Cremation Disclosure Under Illinois Law:
The Cemetery is required to maintain a record of all cremated remains of
any kind deposited upon cemetery property in any way. 410ILCS 18/25(f)
Final disposition of cremated remains of any kind is the responsibility of
the authorizing agent (client family).
Depositing cremated remains of any kind into the casket or burial
receptacle of a deceased is not permitted without consent from the
cemetery. 410 ILCS 18/40 (a) and (b)
