and finish with the security/support element leader,” Seige con- cluded.
“Once I parked the van and everyone got out, I took a look around,” Teryl noted. “I saw a few people pass the alley we were in, but no one even so much as looked. Once the teams went to their positions, no one came behind them. There really was not much going on until the fireworks started a little premature. I started receiving fire as I headed for the van. Some jerk had ducked into the alley as I headed toward the van. I returned fire once I saw his muzzle flash but realized he was only trying to delay me. I hopped into the van firing as I drove. He got up and tried to stand against the walls, I scrapped him off and continued on around the corner to pick you guys up.”
“Was he behind something?” Seige asked.
“No. But he was in the prone and hard to see in the dark, let alone hit, Teryl added, “at least with bullets. He’s part of the alley now.”
“Okay Doug, your turn,” Seige directed.
“When we got out of the van and rounded the corner in op- posite directions, our timing was just right. I came around the corner last and was relieved to see Steve already into his act. We approached right on schedule when this white van came from the north and turned on two wheels almost hitting Steve. I stopped thinking something was wrong until the van stopped in front of the house. Some lady dashed from the shotgun side, spun to- ward the street, and started blasting. I saw a flash and hit the ground reaching for my piece. Good thing too because she was aiming at me before her head turned. When I looked up with my piece ready, she was sprawled against the fence. I started dash- ing toward the front door as the van pulled away in a blaze. Others came from the back of it but were falling dead as they came out. By that time, I was heading into the front door. Until I reached you, I saw nothing except furniture. If you hadn’t dragged me through the window and over that hedge, we’d have looked like Nabisco shredded wheat before now.”
