IV Outsider on the Inside
The smooth ride to headquarters gave Seige no relief. His force had been ambushed, he had lost a man, and discover- ing the existence of an intruder in their midst was not the upside. It seemed that every time he got close to the drug kingpin, some- thing happened that just didn’t make sense. He thought about all of the raids the team conducted in the past two years, going in and out of training to bring them up to speed on the latest tactics in crime fighting. Getting so close to the main man behind the whole empire and now finding a leak was too much. From the mission he had just been a part of and the report he had just received, he felt someone inside was responsible for the guns pointing the wrong way. He didn’t like it even a little bit.
The task force had become a family, they were all like broth- ers, and acted like it. They argued and fussed and even fought with each other over nothing like any other family of boys. He had come to trust these guys; had to look out for them. The last thing any part of him would accept was that any member of his force was dirty. He found himself in the middle anyway because the only other person besides his team who knew about the op- eration was his supervisor acting as the task force director. Seige had known him much longer than he knew any member on the team; which didn’t make things any easier.
Scenario after scenario went through his mind all seeming to point to him. He knew he was getting too close to the bad guys, which didn’t bother him much. Somebody didn’t want him too
