to this meeting. He made gestures hinting that she should disclose the reason. Yet her gestures indicated her lack of knowledge. A call came through taking the secretary’s attention for a brief moment.
“Mr. Key, the director will see you now.”
Without hesitation Seige rose and walked into the office of the director.
“Sit, Seige,” Matthew said. “I have an alternate mission for you that will help your team and assist you with the Blue Heaven Caper. I have orders for all of your team to go to schools to in- crease their skills. Each school will be for exactly for one month and when each member finishes, the task force will reassemble. Now the reason for this change is that I feel your team needs some refinement in their individual abilities.”
“Refinement,” said Seige. “Sir . . .”
“Seige, this is final.”
“I know that we haven’t been perfect lately, especially com-
ing up empty on the last bust. But I believe we are onto some good solid leads. And it will be just a matter of a really short time before we have this thing under wraps.”
“Will this training hurt your efforts any?”
“Well, no. Not really,” said Seige, trying to think of some reason not to temporarily break up the team. “But it may slow down our efforts and some of our leads may get cold.”
“If that’s the best you can do, here are the orders for all of your men and they leave day after tomorrow. Oh yes, I expect you to crack down harder than ever on Blue Heaven when your team reassembles. After all, that’s the main reason for this diver- sion. Plus I need to investigate leaks.”
“Thank you, Sir.
The entire team received pages at the same time. Seige was the last one to enter the rally point amid the noisy conversation of his men. “Well, we’ll be splitting up for awhile guys.”
“Splitting up!” came several voices in unison.
“What for?”
“It seems that our team could use some additional training.
