The Path Forward: Reopening Challenges, Opportunities, and the Law

Provided by LEGAL ONE in Partnership with NJASA
Presenters: David Nash,Esq. LEGAL ONE Director; TBD
This 2-day institute will review the emerging opportunities and numerous challenges confronting school districts as we prepare for the
majority of students to be educated in-person full-time in the Fall for the first time in nearly a year and a half. That means that this Fall
will be like no other, and schools need to understand their legal obligation to plan for the many foreseeable dangers and challenges that
await. How will schools quantify and address the learning loss that has occurred for thousands of students? How will we deal with the
onslaught of pent up social and emotional learning needs of both students and staff? How will we determine the need for and extent of
compensatory services for students with disabilities? How can we use this Summer to remediate needs and transition to our new normal?
Equally important, how can we capitalize on the many opportunities that have been presented to operate in new and innovative ways to
streamline operations, increase efficiency and better support our students and staff? Finally, how can we best utilize the new resources
being made available at the federal and state levels to support schools during this transition period?
Each day will include keynote presentations from a New Jersey school superintendent, simultaneous breakout sessions to choose from
focused on meeting student or staff needs, and then a full session panel discussion and Q & A session with legal experts and leading
        practitioners.
