ENSURE THE WINNER OF THE BOWERES TROPHY WITH A 139 NET SCORE IS
               ANDY REYNOLDS.

THE SKELTON TROPHY HAD A FIELD TWO THIRD’s THE SIZE OF 2016 WITH
JUST 20 PLAYERS. WITH HANDICAPS RANGING FROM 2 TO 9 THE MORNING
SCORING SAW 19 OF THEM SCORE BELOW 80 NETT. THREE 71s FROM PAUL
RUSSELL, PETE MANSHIP AND SIMON OSTROM WERE SHADED OUT BY
MATTHEW DOYLE’S 70. THE AFTERNOON PRODUCED THREE SUB PAR
ROUNDS FROM SIMON DENNIS, 71, MICHAEL POTTS 70 AND MARK WADE
WITH A 68. WHEN COMBINED TOGETHER THIS PRODUCED A THIRD PLACE FOR
PAUL RUSSELL WITH A SCORE OF 143 WHICH WAS MATCHED BY SIMON
DENNIS TO SNATCH SECOND PLACE WITH A BETTER BACK 18. HOWEVER, A
BACK 18 OF 70 TO ADD TO A MORNING 73 MEANT THAT THE SLKELTON WILL
GO TO THE 143 OF MICHAEL POTTS.

CENTENARY TROPHY FIFTEEN YEARS ON FROM OUR CENTENARY YEAR THIS
COMPETITION ATTRACTED A SLIGHTLY LOWER THAN AVERAGE FIELD OF 175
PLAYERS. HOWEVER, THIS DI D NOT DETRACT FROM THE SCORING AND DAN
                                                                                     TH
CORNISH BAGGED THE ONLY EAGLE OF THE DAY ON THE 12 . A TOTAL OF
EIGHTY BIRDIES CONTRIBUTED TO SOME GOOD SCORES AND A NOTABLE
REDUCTION IN THE NUMBER OF NO RETURNS. THE TOP FIVE PLACES WERE
FILLED BY LOWER HANDICAPS WITH ONLY PAUL WALKLEY OFF 16 FILLING
SIXTH PLACE ON 3 UNDER. PAST DUPREE WINNER RYAN BRENT HAD A NET 68
FOR FIFTH PLACE AND HARRY FAIRCLOUGH WENT ONE BETTER FOR
FOURTH. THE TOP THREE PLACES ALL SCORED NET 66s AND SO IT WAS COUNT
BACK THAT EDGED LEE BROWN INTO THIRD AND STUART KNIGHT INTO
SECOND. INSTEAD HIS HOMEWARD STRETCH MEANS THAT THE GLASS
REPLICA WILL RESIDE IN THE HANDS OF MATTHEW DOYLE.

JUBILEE SALVER THIS TROPHY WAS PRESENTED BY A WELL MEANING AND
GENEROUS PRESIDENT TO MARK THE SILVER JUBILEE OF THE CLUB IN 1952.
HOWEVER, IN REALITY IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN NAMED THE GOLDEN JUBILEE
SALVER. FORGETTING THE SEMANTICS THIS TROPHY IS NOW IN ITS SIXTY
FIFTH YEAR. SCORING WAS DOWN ON THE PREVIOUS WEEK WITH A
SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF NO RETURNS. JAMIE TURNBULL SCORED THE
                                                                         TH
ONLY EAGLE OF THE DAY ONCE AGAIN ON THE 12 WHICH ALSO YIELDED UP
20 BIRDIES. ANOTHER MEDAL THAT SAW TWO UNDER TAKING SIXTH PLACE
FOR ALEX EWART AND HE WAS MATCHED BY PHIL ANDREWS AND DANNY
CORNISH FOR THE MINOR PLACES. GRAEME REDPATH-STEVENS WAS ON
HIS OWN IN THIRD WITH A NET 69 BUT IT WAS TWO 68s THAT VIED FRO THE
TROPHY. FOR PETER DEAL WHO HAD PLAYED ON SATURDAY IT WAS
LOOKING GOOD UNTIL HIS BACK NINE EDGED HIM INTO SECOND PLAC E
WHEN THE SUNDAY SCORE OF 68 MEANT THAT THE TROPHY WOULD RSIDE IN
               THE HANDS OF JUSTIN DOSWELL.

ROEDA CUP AFTER THREE WEKS OF MEDALS THE ROEDA OFFERED A
WELCOME STABLEFORD WHICH PHYSCHOLOGICALLY SEEMS TO SETTLE THE
NERVES. A GOOD-SIZED FIELD OF JUST UNDER 19 PLAYERS PRODUCED A
