SPECIAL DAY AS HE HOLED HIS SECOND SHOT ON THE PAR 4 13 FOR A RARE
EAGLE. TOTAL NUMBERS PLAYING WERE BEGINNING TO FALL TO JUST OVER
150 PLAYERS AND AS A CONSEQUENCE THE NUMBER OF N/Rs ALSO DROPPED.
JAMES HAWLEY ONLY DROPPED ONE SHOT OFF HIS LOW HANDICAP BUT HIS
2 UNDER AFTER HANDICAP WAS ONLY GOOD ENOUGH FOR SIXTH PLACE. THE

               OF HARRY FAIRCLOUGH.

TWENTY PLAYERS FELT THAT THE SCRATCH SALVER MIGHT BE THEIRS IF
THEY COULD KEEP THOSE BOGEYS AND DOUBLES OFF THEIR CARDS.
HOWEVER, IT DID NOT INCLUDE OUR TOP TWO HANDICAP WINNERS. INSTEAD
IT WAS A GROSS 76 FROM MICHAEL POTTS THAT TOOK THE RUNNERS UP
SPOT. THE WINNER OF THE SCRATCH SALVER WITH A VERY CREDITABLE
GROSS 73 THIS YEAR IS JAMES HAWLEY. SENDS HIS APOLOGIES OUT OF THE
               COUNTRY.
