OUT OF THE COMPETITION ALONG WITH THE PAIRING OF HARRY
               FAIRCLOUGH AND JOSH SMEED.  THIS SET UP A FINAL BETWEEN A FATHER
               AND SON COMBINATION AND TWO PLAYERS WITH FAMOUS FILM STAR
               NAMES.  UNFORTUANTELY THERE WAS TO BE NO OSCAR ON THIS OCCASION
               FOR THE PAIRING OF JACK HAWKINS AND JAMES STEWART.  INSTEAD THE
               FATHER AND SON SINGLE FIGURE COMBINATION MEANS THAT THE SUMMER
               FOURSOMES PLATES WILL RESIDE WITH SIMON & MARK OSTROM.

               AITKEN CUP   AS A TROPHY OPEN TO ALL SECTIONS OF THE CLUB THIS
               SINGLES KNOCKOUT ATTRACTED SEVERAL LADIES AS PART OF THE 82
               STRONG FIELD.  PLAYED THROUGHOUT THE SPRING AND SUMMER THE
               COMPETITION RESULTS IN SOME HARD FOUGHT MATCHES.  FOR LAST YEARS
               WINNER ALAN BROCKWAY THERE WAS TO BE NO REPEAT OF 2016 AS HE LOST
               IN HIS OPENING MATCH.  THE QUARTER FINALS SAW JACK HAWKINS, JOSH
               SMEED AND IAN WILSON DEPART WHILST IN THE OTHER MATCH IT WAS A
               TWIN WHO DEPARTED IN THE GUISE OF NATHAN SIBLEY.  THE SEMI FINALS
               SAW THE DEPARTURE OF GEOFF MEADWAY AND ALSO OF DEBBIE TAPPLY
               WHO TOOK SOME GOOD SCLAPS BEFORE GOING OUT AS THE LAST LADY
               STANDING.  THIS SET UP A FINAL THAT OBVIOULSY COULD ONLY HAVE ONE
               WINNER AND FOR MIKE DE MELLOW THIS YEAR HE COULD NOT OVERCOME
               TH FINAL HURDLE.  INSTEAD HAVING BEATEN HIS TWIN THE WINNER OF THIS
               HARD FOUGHT TROPHY IS JAMIE SIBLEY.

               GOLFER OF THE YEAR    BASED ON THE BEST NETT DIFFERENTIAL, WITH A
               MINIMUM OF 10 CARDS RETURNED IN SENIOR COMPETITIONS, AND AWARDED
               TO THE PLAYER WHO HAS NOT WON ANOTHER TROPHY.   ALTHOUGH TWO
               PLAYERS APPEAR ABOVE HIM THEY HAVE BOTH WON COMPETITIONS THIS
               YEAR.  SO IT IS WITH A NETT DIFFERENTIAL OF 1.32 THE WINNER FOR 2017 IS
               PAUL RUSSELL.

               HOLE IN ONE    FULLERS HAVE ONCE AGAIN DONATED CHAMPAGNE TO HELP
               THOSE PLAYERS WHO SCORED A HOLE IN ONE IN MEDAL TEE COMPETITIONS
               THIS YEAR.   WOULD YOU PLEASE WELCOME LINDA HEWER WHO SCORED
               THE FIRST EAGLE ON A PAR THREE THIS YEAR ON THE SECOND,  DENNIS

               WING WHO SCORED HIS ON THE 14 , AND FINALLY JACK HAWKINS WHO
                                        ND
               SCORED HIS ON THE 2 .

               MISCELLANEOUS   FOR TWO OF OUR PLAYERS 2017 HAS BEEN AN EXCELLENT
               YEAR IN TERMS OF SUCCESS STORIES.  IN EARLY AUGUST TOM ROBSON WON
               THE MIKE SMITH MEMORIAL TROPHY A SCRATCH COMPETITION PLAYED AT
               BROKENHURTS MANOR AND STONEHAM GOLF CLUBS WHICH IS COMBINED
               WITH THE STONEHAM TROPHY WHICH BILLY MCKENZIE WON.  BY EARLY
               OCTOBER TOM HAD ALSO WON THE HAMPSHIRE ORDER OF MERIT AND LATER
               THAT MONTH HE AND BILLY WON THE COUNTY FOURSOMES.  NOT CONTENT
               WITH THAT THEY THEN BOTH REPRESENTED HAMPSHIRE IN THE INTER
               COUNTY FINALS AT TREVOSE GOLF CLUB WHERE THE TEAM TRIUMPHED
               OVER THE OTHER THREE REGIONAL COUNTY QUALIFIERS.
