RCGC Social report
from Malcolm
Johnson
Following, what by general consent was a reasonable summer here in Rowlands Castle we
now move into autumn with dark evenings and cooler weather but things are hotting up on
the social front at this time of the year as many members will recall. Recently we have
th
enjoyed a full diary of events starting with the Wine & Dine evening on the 25 October, or
to give it its posh name “Wine and Food Pairing” curtesy of Kevin our catering manager. All
the tables were booked so unless you got your names down early I’m afraid you missed your
th
chance. Then at the end of October on the 28 we had the return of Rat Attack the popular
trio of entertainers who presented the American Song book in the style of Frank Sinatra,
Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Junior.
th
On Friday 10 November our Autumn Quiz Night with our ever-challenging quiz master the
one and only Phil Sparshatt. Get your table booking in now to avoid disappointment before
all the spaces are taken. There will be a light supper served half way through the evening
and it’s only £10 per person!
Once again, your social committee have bitten the bullet and are rising to the challenge of
producing yet another cracking New Year’s Eve Party. As usual we have a sign-up night for
th
that event which this year is Thursday 16 November. The committee room door opens at
6.30pm for bookings so get your party members organised and come ready with your names
and cheques to book a table. We have managed to hold the same price as last year so at
£65.00 per person it is amazingly good value for a New Year’s Eve party.
Now as we move into December things really hot up with the Family Christmas Party on
th
Sunday 10 December. Again by careful planning we have again managed to hold the prices
to the same level as last year so at £25 for adults and £10 for children it represents very
good value. Bookings for this and other seasonal events are now open so don’t miss out on
getting you party’s names down. For the youngsters Robbie the Elf will be back by popular
demand and of course Father Christmas will be dropping in later in the afternoon.
th
Something new for this year sees our Christmas quiz on Friday 15 December with a new
quiz master in the shape of Tom Robinson and his father. Again table bookings can be made
at the bar in due course.
th
Another regular Rowlands Castle Golf Club event returns on Sunday 17 December and
that’s the Christmas Draw with golf and a Champagne Brunch beforehand. Peter and Jimmy
