                                    What is Ikrah?It is when a person is forced to break their fast by an oppressive authority. They have to show publicly that they are not observing the fast.What should they do in this situation?They are not sinful for not fasting. If they are able to fast later, they should make up the days. They can pay a fidya if they are able to.It is allowed for a person who is experiencing extreme thirst, hunger, and exhaustion to break their fast. The evidence is the following ayah:%u201cSpend in the cause of Allah and do not let your own hands throw you into destruction %u02f9by withholding%u02fa. And do good, for Allah certainly loves the good-doers.%u201d [Al- Baqarah, 2:195]What is the ruling for a person who works at a physically demanding job, such as construction, which can result in extreme exhaustion and dehydration?They should try their best to leave this type of work or to take a leave from it during the month of Ramadan.If they are unable to do that, then they should start each day with the intention of fasting until they are no longer able to.
