Is it agreed upon by the scholars that cupping invalidates the fast? No, the majority of the scholars believe that it is permissible to do cupping while fasting. Their evidence is based on the action of our Prophet (pbuh), who had cupping done while fasting. They reconcile the action of our Prophet (pbuh) with the above hadith by coming to the conclusion that cupping during fasting is disliked, but permissible.Imam Hanbal disagrees with the majority of the scholars; he believes cupping while fasting is impermissible. To whomever adopts the opinion that it is permissible, in order to be on the cautious side, when there is no need for cupping to be done during the day, it should be avoided during the day and done during the nighttime. What is a seventh invalidator of the fast and what is the evidence for it?Vomiting deliberately invalidates the fast and the evidence is in the following hadith:The Prophet (pbuh) said: %u201cWhoever vomits involuntarily does not have to make up the fast, but whoever vomits deliberately let him make up the fast.%u201d [al-Tirmidhi]What is an eighth invalidator of the fast and what is the evidence for it?Menstruation and nifaas (post childbirth bleeding) invalidate the fast and the evidence is in the following hadith:Our Prophet (pbuh) said: %u201cIs it not the case that when she gets her period, she does not pray or fast?%u201d [al-Bukhari]Is this agreed upon by all the scholars?YesCopyright %u00a9 2023 Islamic Association of Raleigh.
