Mae'r tabl yn dangos mai maes sy'n peri pryder neilltuol yw diffyg amlwg y merched a gyflogir yn sectorau Deunyddiau a Gweithgynhyrchu Uwch, Adeiladu, Ynni a'r Amgylchedd a TGCh o gymharu â dynion. Heblaw am sector Ynni a'r Amgylchedd, mae lefel cyflogaeth merched o fewn y sectorau hyn wedi lleihau'n sylweddol ers 2006. Gall anghyfartaledd o fewn cyflogaeth sector arwain at fylchau cyflog rhwng y rhywiau, anghymesuredd o ran datblygiad sgiliau a diffyg mynediad at yr un cyfleoedd a dilyniant.
Er enghraifft, o ystyried aliniad y sectorau uchod â phynciau Gwyddoniaeth, Technoleg, Peirianneg a Mathemateg (STEM), mae hyn yn peri gofid arbennig, o ystyried y buddion canfyddedig o ddilyn gyrfa yn y maes hwn; ‘the gap in starting salary between men and women who have studied STEM subjects and go on to take jobs in those spheres is smaller than in any other subjects studied. If more women were to pursue careers in these areas, not only would it give them a more balanced portfolio of skills, but it would also narrow the gender pay gap for those in the early years of their working lives.’18
Mae yna gryn ymchwil i awgrymu y byddai datrys y bwlch cyflog angen ymdrech bendant i gynyddu proffil pynciau STEM ymhlith dysgwyr ifanc sy'n ferched.
