conscience of God and it has not been accepted yet. However,
a little while ago, what was said in the Bible? Isn’t it said that
people make excuses immediately? For they feel the prick
of conscience before the Word, they are going back to make
excuses in their consciences in order for their consciences to
feel comfortable. Otherwise, they change their countenance
by angers in their heart as Cain did. Therefore, if you still
take your conscience as your criterion even though you say
you believe in Jesus, you cannot repent in keeping with the
will of God. It means you cannot make a repentance that is
matched to the target of God because you cannot see yourself
who is a completely hopeless sinner whom God says. Even
though you feel the prick of conscience and regret, you
are never submissive before the authority of God, so true
repentance is not done.
In John 8, in order to have a basis for accusing Je-
sus, the teachers of the law and the Pharisees tried to ac-
cuse and kill Jesus, so they brought in a woman caught in
adultery and made her stand before Jesus. You all know
this case, right? They asked Jesus, ‘Law commanded us to
stone such women. Now what do you say?’ They were asking
this because Jesus said ‘I have not come to abolish the Law
but to fulfill’; namely, ‘I have come to forgive the sins and
give life to you’. Therefore, if Jesus says, ‘For I have come
to give life, do not kill this woman’, it means to abolish the
