25th ANNIVERSARY
The Day Arrives
The day had arrived, excited and
nervous I looked at the cloudy skies,
hoping it would brighten up later.
The opening event was a Close
Protection demonstration by the Cyprus
Joint Police Unit headed up by Staff
Sergeant Andy Hardon. After a gun
battle, a helicopter from 84 (Search and
Rescue) Squadron swooped in low and
extracted the VIP (Warrant Officer Class
One Woody Woodruff) and flew off into
the distance.
With the aroma of the barbecue and
the music playing, the funfair in full
swing this was turning out to be great
day. The AGC Band then took centre
stage and got the feet of the crowd
tapping. Then down came the rain, a
shower? This was no shower, and the
rain continued and the event had to
end and the evening entertainment
could not go ahead.
