Boys Town Jerusalem and Israel Police
Join Forces for Technology
In a pioneering initiative, top students at Boys Town Jerusalem’s
College of Applied Engineering have joined with the Israeli Police
Technology Development Division to develop specialized devices
and resources essential to the police force. Over the recent academic
year, seven handpicked seniors in Boys Town Jerusalem’s two-year
college have spent hundreds of hours at the Police division applying
their electronics skills to devise solutions to acute challenges.
David Cohen, a senior instructor in Boys Town Jerusalem’s College
of Applied Engineering, serves as mentor for the students and
accompanies them during their nine-hour sessions at the Police
Technology Development headquarters each Monday. Cohen
stressed that the Israel Police’s preference to develop and produce
customized products in-house rather than purchase them
necessitates immense technological proficiency. This pressing need
spurred the collaboration to be forged with top-notch Boys Town
Jerusalem electronics students.
The essence of the interaction between the Israel Police and Boys
Town Jerusalem’s College of Applied Engineering revolves around
the graduate projects which are a prerequisite for the college degree.
The students selected to work within the Police Technology
Development initiative are producing projects geared specifically to
answer the needs dictated by Police technology experts.
