OUR WOMEN IN ENGINEERING WEEK
Introduction & Norman Rourke Pryme
Norman Rourke Pryme has always strived to be an inclusive, diverse and equal employer. We are now
well above the industry norm with over %25 of our workforce being female. As we continue to grow,
Norman Rourke will continue to promote and encourage women to join the construction and
engineering industry.
To support and empower our female employees to promote the industry and our company, we have
established our Women’s Forum. With regular focus group meetings, the forum looks at both improving
the internal working environment at Norman Rourke Pryme for women and to engage the wider
external community in our schemes.
With a direct line of report to the board of directors, the group can suggest, and shape decisions made
at the highest levels to ensure the female side of the business has a voice. One of those such
suggestions was that Norman Rourke Pryme should look to support the Women in Construction and
Women in Engineering summits.
On the 16 of May, three of our female consultants attended the Women in Construction Summit 2019.
th
The summit is a chance for all voices to be heard and empowered. An opportunity for women from
within the industry to ask the tough questions, hear from industry leaders and join a community of
likeminded individuals from contractors, public authorities and consultancies across the country.
Following the event, the team were able to put forward many great ideas on how Norman Rourke
Pryme can further support the female community.
So what is this booklet about?
Following the Women in Construction event, it was decided that a brilliant way to encourage women
into our company and the industry is to share the joint experience of our own consultants. We decided
rd
that in support of the Women in Engineering day on the 23 June, we would release this booklet of
experiences.
The following pages are written by our consultants sharing their stories of how they got into the industry
and what they are doing now. We hope that by sharing our stories we can encourage potential new
engineers and specialists to get involved!
Ready to get involved?
