Gabriela Silva
Title: Project Manager
Location: London Office
My name is Gabriela Silva and I decided to study civil engineering because I loved
solving maths and physics problems at school. I enjoy working both inside or outside
and the idea of being part of the construction of new infrastructure was extremely
attractive for me. Although there were no engineers in my family, they supported me
and encouraged me to follow this path without hesitation.
After graduating as a Civil engineer, I started working on the contractor side for a
range of construction projects such as underground stations, residential
developments and a new highway to connect the Capital city with the airport,
which allowed me to gain a comprehensive understanding of the construction
industry. I also worked as Cost Consultant for the United Nations Office for Project
Services conducting feasibility studies for irrigation and water transfer projects whilst
studying a master’s in construction management.
Now working from the NRP London office, I am a member of the Highways and
Infrastructure team currently providing Compliance and Audit services to the
highways and infrastructure services contracts for Westminster City Council.
To date, I have worked with two Public Realms Schemes: Baker Street Two Way and
the Lisson Arches Enabling Works Scheme. For both schemes I undertake site visits to
check the progress of works on site, highlight any defects, measure and value the
works, assessing any additional costs that occur and report to Westminster City
Council. Within these schemes I have had the opportunity to work with Konstantinos
Primpidis and Jamie Orme, both with a high expertise in commercial and project
management which are reflected in a day to day basis for each project.
Being a civil engineer has
been an incredible choice
and has allowed me to
work with multidisciplinary
teams in different countries
for the construction and
development of new
infrastructure!
