Title: Project Manager / Engineer
Location: London Office
One of our London team members is Aga, a
Civil Engineer with Traffic Engineering/Modelling
background. She has been involved in several
major Transport Planning projects across the UK.
She joined us in October 2018 as Project
Manager and is currently involved in
procurement of three major infrastructure
contracts for our public sector clients in London.
She’s also leading the delivery of an Interactive
Healthy Streets Dashboard for one of our
London based Clients. A tool which will enable
the authorities to quickly visualise project
progress speeding up decision making,
ultimately leading to benefits for the local
public!
Aga’s story – a five-minute interview
Aga’s mum and younger sister are Land Surveyors, so choosing to become an
engineer did not feel at all unusual or challenging.
It’s only during her time at University, and then throughout her professional career,
she realised that Engineering and Construction are very male dominated industries,
but she was never bothered about being in a minority. Taking a career break to
raise her two daughters, made her realise how important initiatives supporting
women to stay, join or go back to the industry, are.
Even more critically, is that companies actively put that topic on their agenda and
consciously make it clear, that they are open, willing and supportive of getting
women (back) into the construction and engineering industry.
Through her own experience, she has learnt and realised, that like in her own family,
where female engineers are seen and present, the environment naturally will attract
other women to be drawn to it.
Aga also feels passionate about promoting the trade to her young daughters, and
showing, that it does not matter whether you are a male or a female; after all, it’s
simply about great people doing a good job.
