HALF-HITCH
(ALSO KNOWN AS SINGLE HITCH)
his is one of the most widely used temporary fastenings, even though on its own it is also
T one of the most unreliable! It is best used to finish off other, more substantial, hitches,
since a half-hitch is not meant to take any strain.
Around something firm
I - a curtain ring or broomstick, for
example - tie an overhand knot.
If you leave a slightly longer
working end, you can add a
drawloop by not pulling the
working end completely through the
knot.
