HALF-HITCH

                         (ALSO  KNOWN  AS  SINGLE  HITCH)


             his is  one of the most widely used temporary fastenings, even though on its own  it is  also
          T one of the  most unreliable!  It  is best used to finish  off other, more substantial, hitches,
          since a half-hitch is  not meant to  take any strain.






                                                    Around something firm
                                                  I  - a curtain  ring or broomstick, for
                                                 example - tie an overhand knot.
























                                   If you  leave  a slightly  longer
                                   working end,  you  can  add a
                                   drawloop  by  not pulling  the
                                   working  end completely  through  the
                                   knot.
