z W name for figure-of-eight interweaving. The temporary racking bend is used particularly

al when small-diameter messenger lines seize the bight of a much thicker rope, gripping the
larger rope so that the bight remains closed.
Bring the working end of
2 the smaller line over the
bight of the larger.
Make a bight in the larger
I of the two lines that are to
be linked.
Tuck the working end of
3 the smaller line under one
leg of the bight.
Bring the working end
4 back over the leg of the
bight and under the other leg.
