ENGLISHMAN'S LOOP
his loop uses two overhand knots to form a fixed loop. The drawing together of
T the two knots to form a single knot has given this knot a certain symbolic value.
T ie a slipped overhand knot

Take the
2 working end of
the cord over and
then behind the
standing part and
behind the
working part.
Tuck the working end
3 through the loop of the
second overhand knot and
tighten gently by
pulling on the
working end.
Bring the two knots
4 together by pulling on the
standing part and on the loop.
